ASL Lunch GroupQuarterly social lunch group for the ASL community.
Community Group - "Straight Shooters"The increasing trend in America today is that men don’t have friends. Too often we are walking out this life alone. When Jesus chose His closest friends, He invited them to come and walk with Him. And that walk wasn’t characterized by “bull shooting” or “put-downs” but by genuine and mutual care and encouragement. If you’d like to fellowship with other men who desire to follow Jesus more closely and who enjoy smoothbores (shotguns) and the shooting of flying targets in a non-competitive setting, then you’re invited to contact our “Straight Shooters” group. We meet one morning a month at local sporting clays courses for fellowship, prayer and time on the clays course or 5 Stand. Since we meet on weekdays, this group is primarily for retired men or those who have flexibility in their weekday schedules. Jesus, the ultimate “Straight Shooter”, wants our lives to be characterized less by “bull shooting” and more by straight shooting - in our interactions and our relationships. We want that, too, and we know He’s the one who can accomplish that in us. You'll receive a confirmation email with more information when you sign up for this group.
Community Group - Frank and Sarah DowneyA little bit about Frank & Sarah We have been married for 4 years after dating for 2 years after meeting on Match.com. Frank is a Colorado native and a die-hard Broncos fan. Sarah came to Colorado 15 years ago from Texas and is still getting used to the snow. We love to travel the world and entertain family and friends. We hope this social dinner group will bring new friendships, laughter, and a sense of connection to Christ and community. Join us for great food and fun.
Community Group - Lisa GreenA little bit about Lisa... I grew up in Nebraska (“Go Big Red”), lived in Cali for 20 years, and moved to Colorado in 2005. I have been married for 40 years to Dan, and we have three young adult children, two of whom still live with us. To say it is challenging to live with young adults is an understatement, but that is a story for another day. I am the only football fan in my family, but I have been able to elevate the Superbowl to a holiday! I love working in my yard, hiking, fostering greyhounds, and keeping fit (I run). I actually participated in my first Tough Mudder event during the summer of 2024 with a friend, but do not know if I will ever do it again. I finished, and that’s all I will say about that! I work full time at a law firm. I do paralegal work for attorneys who work with employee benefit plans (think 401(k) plans), and I also manage the day-to-day administration work for my firm’s retirement plans. My firm is merging with a much larger firm, so come January 2025, I will be working for a firm with over 1,000 lawyers. Life is never dull. My journey with God started when I was a freshman in college. Each individual journey may have mountains and valleys, rocky and smooth roads, boulders to climb and oceans to swim. Yet, through it all, we are overcomers through Him. I know how hard it can be to connect with others at a large church, so I love the idea of hosting a casual dinner group for folks to come, share a meal, meet some new friends, and grow together in life and spirit. I hope to meet you soon!
Community Group - Monica Owens & Vernita HamiltonA little bit about Monica and Vernita... Monica - I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. I have an Associate Degree in Sociology from Southern University and a BA in Organizational Management from Wiley College. I was a Sunday School teacher, and Youth Director for 5 years at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. We moved to Colorado in 1999 where I accepted a position as a Supervisor in Managed Care-Enrollment Services at Denver Health and Hospital. I am a widow but was married for 32 years and have 3 adult sons. I currently work for the State of Colorado as a Contract Manager at Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) for 17 years, overseeing contracts for 9 Eligibility Sites that assist individuals with obtaining a state medical program. I think of myself as a well-rounded individual who loves people, traveling, reading, games, food, and most of all, the Lord! I have worked in various areas of the church, Children’s Ministry, Welcoming Committee, Jail Ministry, Pew Duty and a wide range of volunteering work at CCC. Vernita - Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I have called Colorado my home for the past 30 years. I, too, am a widow and a proud mom of two adult children; Jamie and Hamilton. I’m a graduate of Southern University and University of Phoenix, and am currently employed at Workday, as a Senior Technical Support Delivery Analyst. I enjoy cooking my beloved South Louisiana foods, vegetable container gardening, listening to the birds chirp while reading/relaxing in my hammock, and creating various arts and crafts. I currently serve on CCC's Pew Crew. Our group is called Games for Active Seniors, “GAS”, which is "Fuel for the Soul". It gives us drive to have Love, Joy, Fun, Interactions, Health, Grace and Compassion for each other while engaging in indoor/outdoor activities for Co-Ed Seniors 55+. Activities will include board games, cards, charades, bingo, and other indoor/outdoor activities, such as pickleball, kick ball, badminton, bowling, etc. We look forward to meeting you!
Community Group - Nancy WellnitzA little bit about Nancy… I was born and raised in Colorado. I have been married for over 33 years. We had no children but have fostered and/or adopted nine Dalmatian dogs. I retired from a 40-year career in public recreation coordination and administration, with a primary focus on seniors. I enjoy walking, bicycling, gardening, cooking, connecting with old friends, and spending time with my husband at our cabin. As a child, I asked Christ into my life, and He has been my Rock through life’s joys and struggles. I have seen His guidance and unfailing love through it all. I’ve attended Colorado Community Church for 15 years. At CCC I have been involved in a homeless ministry, short-term mission trips and was privileged to participate in an educational trip to Israel. I have facilitated small groups in the past and am looking forward to connecting with women who are alone in their faith. Perhaps your spouse is of a different faith, or their faith is underdeveloped or non-existent. Join other women with this challenge to build community and support. We will seek God’s word, lessons from the sermons, and other resources such as Lee Strobel’s book, “Surviving a Spiritual Mismatch in Marriage” for helpful direction. Together we will pray for our partners, and for our own walk alongside them. I’m looking forward to meeting you.
Community Group - Shannon MaddoxA little bit about Shannon... Hey, y’all. My name is Shannon (folks call me “Auntie”). I’m originally from Alabama but have lived in Colorado for almost seven years. I’m an administrative assistant and affiliate instructor at Colorado Christian University. In my spare time, I enjoy creating art and craft projects, blogging, and reading. Speaking of reading… The purpose of our book discussion group is to explore thought-provoking titles that help us grow in our relationship with and knowledge of the Lord. So, bring your book, a Bible, and a snack to share (if you can) and come sit a spell as we learn together.
MF: Single Parent MinistrySingle Parent Ministry meets on the first Wednesday of every month with the exception of June, July and August. The group may decide to meet for a summer BBQ.

Sermon Discussion Group - Blake & Kelly WigglesworthA little bit about Blake & Kelly… We have been married for 4 years and love to hike, garden, and spend time with friends and family. We originally met at Biola University and still often visit California where Blake’s family lives. Blake is originally from Glendora, CA and works as a Denver Fireman. Kelly is a native Coloradan and works as a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital in Aurora. We are building our family and currently have a sweet black lab-husky mix, Pepper, who loves everyone, especially children. We’re excited to host young singles, couples, and families in our home and share the Word of God and love of Jesus with encouragement. It’s a joy to walk alongside others in the triumphant moments as well as the devastating ones. Our goal of this small group is to provide a safe and loving space to share life. Please join us in our home!
Sermon Discussion Group - Bob & Lisa SuttererA little bit about Bob and Lisa Sutterer… We’ve been married for 32 years and have two grown daughters who both live in Denver with their husbands and dogs. We have a Golden Retriever named Bo. We’re both high school teachers - Lisa in the Littleton District and Bob in Douglas County. Living “out west” near Dry Creek and University, we don’t balk at the commute to CCC, which we’ve attended for 12 years, because “a church that’s alive, is worth the drive.” We’re doing our best to stay active by paddle boarding, cross country skiing, biking and, now that we’re old enough, playing a little pickleball. Although we’ve lived in Colorado for 17 years, Lisa is originally from California and Bob is from Minnesota. We call our decision to settle in Colorado our “Great Compromise.” Bob stays in touch with his roots by cheering for the Twins, Vikings and Gophers. Lisa has organized numerous student trips to Europe! We’ve been involved in small groups for decades and have found gathering together with others is a great way to do life and grow together. We love the diversity, the teaching, and the missional vision at CCC and love how people can connect in our group over those things. We meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday evening of each month - one time in person and one time online. When we meet in person, we always share a great meal together (there are some awesome cooks in our group!) If you’re looking for some deep discussions, good food, laughter, and a chance to connect with some good people, come and check us out. Allergy Alert (Dog)
Sermon Discussion Group - Dana WarrenA little bit about Dana... My name is Dana Warren. My husband, Stanley, and I have been married for 28 years. We have one son, Adam, who is currently attending college in Tempe, AZ. I was a stay-at-home mom and my husband worked in the insurance industry. We are both retired and love to travel, reading, board games and watching movies (our favorite movies are on TCM Classic). My sermon discussion group meets at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, and after class we browse the bookstore or head over to Crumble for a yummy cookie. I chose to lead a Sermon Discussion Group because I love digging deeper into God’s word. When Pastor Robert talked about needing facilitators for Sermon Discussion Groups, the Lord put it on my heart to do it. I’m so glad I did! We would love to have you fellowship with us!
Sermon Discussion Group - Jim & Becky DoidgeMeet the Doidge's... Jim and Becky have been married nearly 28 years, after meeting in undergraduate school in Colorado. After finishing school, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where Becky attended graduate school. They remained in Flagstaff for 6 years and had their first daughter, Alexis (now 24). With the second on the way (James, now 21), they moved back to Colorado to be near family. Jim hails from Wyoming, while Becky is a Colorado native. Becky works for Children's Hospital as a feeding specialist and Jim is in finance. In their spare time, they enjoy outdoor activities; however, Jim is the golfer while Becky chooses to hike and garden. Everyone in the family enjoys a great soccer game or good musical. Family time includes watching sporting events, cooking, playing board games, entertaining friends, and going to movies. The Doidge's host a Sermon Discussion Group to be more connected to those at CCC and to incorporate more spiritual conversations into their lives.
Sermon Discussion Group - Kelly WagonerA little bit about Kelly... Hi, I’m Kelly - I love talking about God's word and how He is working in people's lives. I'm originally from Albuquerque, NM (the true green chili capital), but have lived in Denver for almost 25 years. I have two sons who are almost grown. I enjoy spending time outdoors gardening, exercising and just sitting on the porch. I look forward to building a community with others who love Jesus!
Sermon Discussion Group - Ryan & Sarah BremmerA little bit about the Ryan and Sarah… We’re in our 30’s, and have been married for 4 years. Ryan works as an account manager for an electronics distributor and Sarah works with youth for a local non-profit that helps students get free education and career training after high school. When we aren’t working, we love to hike, paddle board, camp, play board games, spend time with our families and host parties. We both love to cook and share our home with friends and family. We both grew up in Colorado for most of our lives but are a little newer to CCC. We are really passionate about bringing our community together and getting to know other young families in our church! We’ll meet the 1st & 3rd Friday for Sermon Discussion, and on the last Friday of the month, we’ll have an outing or family activity. If you are interested in joining our group, we will have a meal and dessert. We offer childcare (with advanced notice). ALLERGY ALERT: We have a large black Lab/Dane mix
Sermon Discussion Group - Sammy Vogle (Chinese)A little bit about Sammy... My husband, Jim, and I have been blessed by God in our 20 years of marriage. We are thankful to have CCC as our church home. By opening our home for Sunday Sermon Discussion in the Chinese Mandarin language, we pray it will be a way that God leads us to share our abundant blessing to all Chinese friends and neighbors. Come join us Sundays from 1:00-3:00pm! A light snack will be provided.
Sermon Discussion Group - Talia McCrayA little bit about Talia... I love the Lord. As an educator by nature and profession, I have lived, worked, and played in many fascinating places around the world. No matter how many times I read the bible, God reveals something new. Come join me and others as we explore what God is trying to say to us through scripture and the sermons.
Sermon Discussion Group - Ted & Shelly TravisMeet Ted and Shelly Travis! We have been married for 41 years. We have been in full-time ministry to urban youth for 35 of those years, and Ted continues in ministry by training and mentoring youth leaders who work in urban areas. Shelly has the joy of spending time a few days a week with their 7 amazing grandchildren. We are privileged to host a wonderful sermon discussion group! We enjoy stimulating, transparent discussions and special prayer times as well as a once-a-month yummy potluck. It has been a wonderful opportunity to build a caring small community within the larger church context.
Sermon Discussion Group - Vicki BryantA little bit about Vicki... Hi! I’m Vicki Bryant. I am a member of CCC and a 5+5 Missionary. I have 5 adult children - two girls and three boys; the 3 oldest of whom are married. Their father passed away almost 2 years ago, but God takes care of us. I grew up moving a lot and have spent a bit of time in every state in the U.S. We moved back to Colorado when I was eight and by the next year, I was a street kid along East Colfax breaking laws and making bad decisions. It was the everyday Christians God kept placing in my path and the Holy Spirit that drew me to Him and to salvation at age 27. In church and through Celebrate Recovery-type meetings, I learned about the love and character of Jesus. Christ called me back to East Colfax as a missionary and I’ve been following Him there since 2002. I’ve facilitated small groups for many years at CCC and started an online group during COVID. Our group continues to meet online because we have members in other states who enjoy watching the sermons at CCC from all our pastors at church. Our little group loves to gather each week and even reaches out by phone and email, regularly for prayers, praises, and relationships. Currently, I am also a caregiver to my elderly parents, as well as a missionary. My self-care consists of days with the Lord, my sermon discussion group, and meeting with friends for coffee, a meal, or a walk. I’m not a coffee drinker… my favorite hot drink is chai.
